Resolves problems with public as referred by other Department personnel or as they otherwise occur.
Reviews daily new arrest log from the jail, schedules hearings, prepares documents for court session, and notifies attorneys, court personnel, probation/community corrections staff, and prosecutors of any new arrests.
Prepares, obtains, and organizes court documents/electronic files, including Chronological Case Summary and individual BMV records.
Ensures court has appropriate documents in electronic format for proceedings.
Scans/Attaches documents as needed into the appropriate case electronically, and processes them through the electronic case management system.
Performs court check-in, including distributing needed documents to appropriate parties.
Prepares for Night Court, including assembling forms/documents and preparing check-in location and courtroom.
Works during Night Court sessions when needed.
Electronically processes modification and dismissal requests, as well as transfer orders in existing protective orders, workplace violence restraining orders, and no contact orders through the electronic case management system for the Judge's review and ruling.
Submits information regarding orders for protection, workplace violence restraining orders, and no contact orders into statewide electronic protective order registry; assists other County courts with input and transmission of data into registry.
Through the electronic case management system, processes affidavits of indigency from pauper defendants, prepares pauper counsel appearances and distributes notification of such appointments to defendant, appointed counsel, and the Prosecutor's Office.
Assists with small claims, dissolution, and other civil cases, including scheduling new cases and processing electronically filed documents for Judge's review.
Maintains the daily log of referrals to the Self-Help Legal Center.
Scans/Processes courtroom orders/documents into the electronic case management system, as needed.
Performs duties of court reporter in his/her absence.

I.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
High school diploma or GED, with relevant training and experience in court environment.
Working knowledge of standard office and court policies, procedures and related terminology, and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated tasks.
Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, deferral program personnel, law enforcement departments and correctional facilities, attorneys, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
Ability to type with speed and accuracy, and properly operate a variety of standard office equipment, including courtroom digital recording equipment, computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copier, and calculator.
Ability to prepare a variety of legal/court documents and correspondence as assigned.
Ability to understand, memorize, retain, and carry out written or oral instructions and present findings in oral or written form.
Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment with minimum supervision, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.
Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.
Ability to recognize dangerous and safety-compromised situations and respond to them.
Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.
Ability to understand and conform to ethical requirements of Code of Judicial Conduct.
Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of Department information and records according to state requirements and Code of Federal Regulations.
Ability to comply with all employer/Department personnel policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
Ability to occasionally work extended and/or evening hours.
Must be cheerful and professional.
II.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Incumbent performs standard, recurring duties according to well-established department, legal, and ethical policies and procedures.
Incumbent receives general supervision, with priorities determined by supervisor, court schedule, and service needs of the public.
Errors in incumbent's work are usually prevented through procedural safeguards and legally defined procedures, and are detected through notification from other departments/agencies or the public.
Undetected errors may result in work delays and/or inconvenience to other departments/agencies or the public.
III.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with co-workers, other County departments, deferral program personnel, law enforcement departments and correctional facilities, attorneys, and the public, for purposes of exchanging information, and explaining policies and procedures.
Incumbent reports directly to Judge and Office Manager.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Incumbent performs duties in a standard office environment and in a courtroom, involving sitting/walking at will, sitting for long periods, keyboarding, lifting/carrying objects weighing less than 25 pounds, close vision, speaking clearly, hearing sounds/communication, and handling/grasping/fingering objects.
Incumbent maintains considerable contact with the public and may be frequently exposed to irate/hostile persons.
Incumbent occasionally works extended and/or evening hours.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
