Supervisor Hematology and Coagulation

The Supervisor of Hematology, Coagulation, and Serology is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory within the assigned areas. This position integrates laboratory processes to maximize quality, reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction in the delivery of care that is specific to age and development of patients in all age groups. This position is eligible for a $5K sign-on bonus!
Job
Responsibilities:
Document review of all assigned procedures as required by regulatory agencies. Assure procedures are written in accordance with regulatory requirements and departmental policies.
Maintain an adequate inventory of reagents, QC, and supplies within each assigned departments.
Be accessible to testing personnel when testing is being performed to provide on-site, telephone or electronic consultation or resolve technical problems in accordance with established policies and procedures within office hours, and occasionally outside of scheduled hours.
Provide selection methodology that is appropriate for clinical use of test results and ensure appropriate remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
Evaluate the competency of all testing personnel and assures that staff maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently.
Identify training needs and ensure those performing testing receive regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of the laboratory services performed.
Communicate timely and accurately with all internal and external customers regarding laboratory results and services.
Establish a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and establish the parameter for acceptable levels of analytic performance. Ensure levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process.
Function as testing personnel under CLIA '88 within the scope of their education, experience and training for the type and complexity of testing performed.
Education Requirements:
Minimum: Must meet requirements for Technical Supervisor under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 under one of the following:
Be a doctor or medicine or a doctor of osteopathy licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the state of Indiana and be certified by the American Board or Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology or possess qualifications that are equivalent to those required for such certification.
Be a doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathy in the State of Indiana and have at least one year of laboratory training or experience or both in high complexity testing in the specialty or six months within the sub-specialty.
Have earned a doctoral degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; and have at least two year's of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing within the specialty with a minimum of six months experience in high complexity testing within the subspecialty.
Have earned a Masters degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology or chemical, physical, biological science and have at least two year's of laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing within the specialty with a minimum of six months experience in high complexity testing within the subspecialty.
Have earned a Bachelors degree in medical technology, or chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution and have at least four years of laboratory training or experience or both, in high complexity testing with the specialty with a minimum of six months experience in high complexity testing within the subspecialty.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum: 3-5 years Years hematology/generalist experience in clinical laboratory setting
Preferred: 1-3 years supervisory experience in a laboratory, specifically in Hematology, Coagulation, and Serology testing.
License / Certification Requirements:
Minimum: MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP)
